Four Major Process Involved in Wood Carbonization Plant
· Standardization of the Biomass (Wood)
To produce charcoal from charcoal making machine, the wood is first preheated to reduce the water content to about 20 percent and the size to less than 50mm. The reason is that moisture and size of the biomass will affect the finished product. The shredder and the dryer in the plant are designed mainly for this purpose.
· Volatilization of the flue gas
The biomass with only 20 percent water content and lesser than 50 mm in size is then fed into the carbonization furnace through the silo conveyor belt. Initially, traditional fuels such as coal, natural gas and wood are used to heat the furnace for about 30 minutes before the biomass is heated enough at a temperature of 650 ℃ – 750 ℃ to release a highly volatile and combustible gas, capable of heating the carbonization furnace and the dryer without external heat source, what is known as one fire with two steps.
· Removal of Sulfur
The residual charcoal without the volatile gas is cooled and collected. And the gas is then purified through a spray and cyclone deducting systems to remove the sulfur impurity present before been fed into the condenser system.
· Final Products
The resulted purified gas is then liquefied in the condenser into two product, tar and wood vinegar. The condensation analyzer system will separate the tar and the wood vinegar produced into separate tanks. Then the residual combustible gas is then led out by the draft fan.
